Texas Tech 6, North Texas 3 [Game 1 – Sept. 30]

Texas Tech 10, North Texas 6 [Game 2 – Oct. 1]

Farmer’s Branch, TX – The Red Raiders opened up Game 1 against North Texas with an explosive first period that had them leading 6 goals to 1. Through the second period North Texas made progress and was able to cut the Red Raider lead down to 2. At the end of the 2nd period, Texas Tech lead 7-5. Texas Tech would continue their lead through the third period and hold off North Texas to win 10-6.

On Saturday night both teams would meet again for Game 2. Going in to the third period Texas Tech would keep their lead at 4-2. The Red Raiders sweep the series with a 6-3 win on Saturday Night.

UTEP 7, Texas A&M 6 [Game 1 – Sept. 30]

UTEP 3, Texas A&M 5 [Game 2 – Oct. 1]

College Station, TX – Quickly into the first period, Texas A&M scores two goals by, Chris Schultz and Michael Mirabella to take a 2-0 lead over the Miners. With back to back goals from Lukas Znosko, both teams would head to the locker room tied at 2 at the end of the 1st period. Back for the 2nd period the Aggies and Miners would each exchange goals but the Miners would end up on top, 6-4, at the end of the 2nd period. Texas A&M controls the 3rd period and takes the game into overtime. After another 5 minutes of play the score remained tied at 6. Miners win 7-6 in a shootout.

After an exciting game 1, the Miners and Aggies met again on Saturday night. Jorge Duenas opens the game with the first goal and puts the Miners on the board. With 2 goals from Huston Scondrk and a single goal from Ty Walsh, the Aggies lead after the 1st period. Miners, Dalton Monaghan and Nicholas Howell give UTEP 2 goals and tie the game at 3. Aggies don’t wait long to gain their lead back to end the 2nd period. With another goal in the 3rd period, the Aggies hold their lead and hand UTEP their first loss of the season.

UTEP 10, North Texas 1 [  Oct. 2]

Farmer’s Branch, TX – With a week in between Game 1 and 2 Miners were back in Dallas ready to take on North Texas. Lukas Znosko wastes no time and puts the Miners on the board to start the game. With back to back goals from Matt Sanca, Josh Baeza, Mack Hollis, and Lukas Znosko Miners end the 1st period 5-0. North Texas’ Michael Kobus starts off the 2nd period with a goal to make the score 5-1. After a pair of Miner goals, at the end of the 2nd period Miners lead 7-1. Miners increase their lead to 10 in the 3rd period and win Game 2, 10-1 over North Texas.
